UNICEF says renewed fighting in Yemen has displaced more than 104,000 people, including over 57,000 children, in just two weeks, deepening an already severe humanitarian crisis.

The agency reported that at least nine children have been killed and 12 injured since 3 September, while three others have been reported missing following an attack on a road between Yemen’s western coast and Aden.

UNICEF said violence has also disrupted 26 UNICEF-supported health facilities and 243 schools, affecting more than 137,000 students. The agency is expanding emergency assistance, including water and sanitation support, mobile health and nutrition teams and child-protection services.

The crisis is also affecting neighbouring Djibouti, where more than 2,000 people, including many children, have arrived after dangerous crossings of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
