Lahore (HRNW) — The 150-year-old system of direct recruitment of staff for Punjab’s subordinate courts has been abolished.
A Full Court meeting of the Lahore High Court, chaired by Chief Justice Aalia Neelum, has unanimously approved new rules governing the recruitment of staff for subordinate courts.
Under the new system, Sessions Judges will no longer be able to directly recruit subordinate judiciary staff in their respective districts. A new recruitment mechanism will be established at the Lahore High Court Secretariat.
Under the procedure, a Sessions Judge in a district facing a shortage of judicial staff will inform the Director General Establishment about the vacant posts. After scrutiny and necessary processing, the Director General Establishment will forward the recruitment case to the Lahore High Court Secretariat.
The new system is aimed at making recruitment in Punjab’s subordinate courts more organized, transparent and uniform.
