Benghazi (HRNW), August 12, 2026: Libya’s military intelligence chief, Fawzi Mansouri, has been killed in a car bomb explosion in the eastern city of Benghazi.
According to the Libyan military, Mansouri was leaving a mosque on Monday night when a bomb attached to his vehicle exploded, killing him.
The military described the killing as a “cowardly and criminal act” and condemned the attack.
The Libyan National Army said efforts to combat extremism and establish peace and stability in the country would continue despite the attack.
Libya has faced prolonged political turmoil, civil conflict and social instability since the fall of former leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.
