Bogotá (HRNW) — A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake in Colombia has reportedly killed 132 people and injured hundreds, causing widespread damage to homes and critical infrastructure.
According to the Colombian president, the earthquake affected 1,575 homes, 18 medical facilities and 52 schools.
The earthquake was reportedly centered near San José del Palmar in the Chocó region, with tremors felt across several parts of the country. Rescue teams have been deployed to affected areas to search for people trapped under collapsed structures.
Authorities have intensified emergency response operations, while assessments of the full extent of the damage and casualties are continuing.
