Lahore (HRNW): Police have launched an investigation following the deaths of two women in the Township area of Lahore. According to police, preliminary findings suggest that both women died from a suspected drug overdose.
Police stated that after receiving a call through the Emergency 15 helpline, the Operations Wing responded to the scene and took the two women into custody before transferring them to the relevant police station.
According to the authorities, a criminal case had been registered against the women under charges of theft and fraud based on a complaint filed by the complainants.
While at the police station, the women reportedly became ill. Operations Police immediately called Rescue 1122, whose personnel arrived at the station and transported both women to a hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Doctors pronounced one woman dead upon arrival at the hospital, while the second woman died shortly afterward despite medical intervention.
Police said that initial information indicates both women were allegedly drug-dependent and that their deaths were caused by a suspected drug overdose. However, authorities emphasized that the exact cause of death will be determined after post-mortem examinations, forensic analysis, and the completion of the official investigation.
