Lahore: Police Officer Arrested Over Alleged Sexual Assault of Mentally Disabled Girl

Lahore (HRNW): A police officer has been arrested in Lahore over allegations of sexually assaulting a mentally disabled girl. The arrest was made after the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Investigation took notice of the incident and ordered immediate action.

According to initial reports, the incident allegedly took place within the premises of Ghaziabad Police Station in Lahore’s Cantonment Division. The accused, identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Imran Anwar, was serving in the investigation wing of the police station.

Sources claim that the ASI allegedly took the mentally disabled girl from outside her home on a motorcycle. Local shopkeepers reportedly informed the officer that the girl had a mental disability, but he allegedly responded by identifying himself as a police officer and stating that she was a suspect.

The girl’s family began searching for her after she went missing. Neighbours reportedly informed them that a police officer had taken her away. According to the family, the girl later returned home in a distressed condition and alleged that she had been sexually assaulted inside a room at the police station.

Following the complaint, police registered a criminal case against the accused officer. On the instructions of the DIG Investigation, ASI Imran Anwar was arrested, and further legal proceedings have been initiated.

Police officials stated that the investigation is ongoing and that forensic evidence and other relevant material will be examined as part of the inquiry.
