Lahore (HRNW) – Rising water levels in the Chenab and Ravi rivers have created flood-like conditions in several areas of Punjab, leaving multiple villages submerged and affecting thousands of acres of agricultural land and standing crops.
According to reports, increased water pressure, soil erosion, and damage to protective embankments have caused severe difficulties for residents and farmers in the affected areas.
In Kot Bela near Ali Pur Chatha, floodwaters from the Chenab River have caused significant destruction. Rapid soil erosion has placed dozens of houses at risk, while thousands of acres of agricultural land have been damaged. Standing crops submerged under several feet of water have caused heavy financial losses for farmers.
Similarly, in Bait Pararah area of Tranda Muhammad Panah, a protective embankment near Basti Bada Pararah reportedly breached, allowing floodwater to enter nearby settlements.
Local residents stated that several crops, including sugarcane, mung beans, sesame, and fodder crops, have been submerged. Access routes to several villages have also been cut off, forcing residents to move towards safer locations on their own arrangements.
Authorities and relevant departments are monitoring the situation and taking measures to control further damage and provide assistance to affected communities.
