Tokyo (HRNW) – According to recent research reports, the Muslim population in Japan has increased significantly over the past decade, with estimates suggesting that the number has more than doubled during this period.
Reports indicate that around 230,000 Muslims were living in Japan in 2020, compared with approximately 110,000 a decade earlier.
Researchers attribute the growth of the Muslim community in Japan to several factors, including an increase in foreign residents, natural population growth within Muslim families, and a growing number of Japanese citizens embracing Islam.
Although Muslims still represent a small proportion of Japan’s overall population, Islam is considered one of the country’s fastest-growing religious communities.
The reports also highlight that the rise in the Muslim population has been accompanied by an increase in mosques, halal food facilities, Islamic centers, and Muslim-friendly services, reflecting Japan’s expanding cultural and religious diversity.
