KMC Suspends Land Department Officer Over Hill Park Illegal Construction Inquiry

Karachi (HRNW) – The Deputy Director of the Land Department of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Noman, has been suspended in connection with the issue of alleged illegal constructions around Hill Park, while show-cause notices have been issued to the Deputy Directors of KMC and Jamshed Town.

According to officials, a conditional No Objection Certificate (NOC) for Plot No. 39G4 was issued by the Deputy Director Land. The Senior Director Human Resource Management (HRM) has issued a notification regarding disciplinary action against the officer.

Speaking to the media about the Hill Park encroachment inquiry, Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab stated that the plot presented in the case does not exist in the original layout plan. He said that the builders involved had presented lease documents issued by PECHS.

Mayor Wahab explained that according to the original layout plan, the disputed plot number does not exist. He added that under a 1974 notification, the total area of Hill Park is approximately 56 acres.

He further stated that KMC has never allotted any portion of Hill Park land to any individual or institution and has initiated a comprehensive land survey to determine the facts and verify land records.

Warning against any violations, the Mayor said that strict action would be taken if PECHS is found to have violated the approved layout plan. He emphasized that encroachment or illegal construction on Hill Park land will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Murtaza Wahab added that KMC will utilize all available legal and administrative measures to protect Hill Park land, while inquiries and surveys are continuing to uncover all facts related to the matter.
