Shazia Marri Calls for Free and Transparent Elections in Gilgit-Baltistan

Karachi (HRNW) – Central Spokesperson of Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians, Shazia Marri, has emphasized the need to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Speaking about the electoral situation in the region, she alleged that certain political elements are attempting to influence the electoral process through pre-poll rigging. Shazia Marri stated that the increasing popularity of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has created concern among political opponents, and reports of electoral irregularities are emerging from various constituencies.

She expressed concern over reports of transfers of administrative officers and changes in voter lists in some areas, saying such developments raise serious questions about the fairness of the electoral process. She added that any attempt to make the elections controversial would be against democratic principles.

The PPP spokesperson urged the Election Commission of Pakistan to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities and ensure a level playing field for all political parties so that the elections remain transparent, impartial, and credible.
