Hearing on Imran Khan’s X Account and Meeting Cases: Jail Authorities Summoned for Response

ISLAMABAD (HRNW): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) conducted a hearing regarding the closure of PTI founder Imran Khan’s X (formerly Twitter) account and the denial of meetings with his legal counsel. Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir presided over the proceedings and issued notices to relevant parties, seeking formal responses.

Key developments from the court session include:

  • Notice to PTI Chairman: The court issued a notice to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, seeking a response regarding the request to close the PTI founder’s X account.

  • Personal Account Status: Defense counsel Salman Akram Raja maintained before the court that the X account in question is the personal property of the PTI founder.

  • Power of Attorney Delays: Salman Akram Raja informed the court that jail authorities have not yet provided his signed power of attorney (Wakalatnama) from the PTI founder, though he emphasized that they do not wish to leave the case unpursued.

  • Contempt of Court regarding Meetings: The court sought a response from jail authorities in a contempt case filed over the failure to facilitate meetings between the PTI founder and his lawyers.

  • Judicial Remarks: Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir noted that parawise comments from various parties have been received and observed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is also a party to the case.

Following these observations, the court adjourned further hearing of the case for one week.
