Hezbollah Chief Says No Real Ceasefire Exists in Lebanon Amid Continued Border Tensions

Beirut (HRNW)- Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem has said that there is effectively no ceasefire in Lebanon, citing continued Israeli attacks and ongoing tensions along the border. In his statement, Qassem rejected discussions about establishing a buffer zone inside Lebanon, calling such proposals baseless and insisting that no such arrangement has existed in the past and will not be allowed in the future. He emphasized that there can be no compromise on Lebanon’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security.

Naim Qassem further stated that Lebanon requires firm security guarantees, adding that while Hezbollah supports indirect negotiations aimed at reducing tensions, it views direct talks with Israel as an unnecessary political concession. He also reiterated that Hezbollah intends to maintain what it describes as its armed resistance strategy, arguing that it remains central to Lebanon’s defense under current regional conditions. Analysts say the remarks reflect continued instability in the Lebanon-Israel border region, where fears remain high that tensions could escalate into broader conflict.

As conflict continues to impact civilians across the region, humanitarian support and relief efforts remain critically important—donations can be made at:
