Lahore (HRNW): New developments have emerged in the investigation into the murder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Abdullah Tahir, with investigators alleging that the victim’s driver was honey-trapped to obtain information about his movements.
According to investigative sources, the suspects allegedly used a 22-year-old woman to target the victim’s driver, Asghar, in an effort to gather intelligence about Abdullah Tahir’s routine and whereabouts.
Police investigators said the woman, described as a TikTok content creator, first contacted the driver approximately two months before the murder through the social media platform. Investigators believe she later succeeded in obtaining information about the victim’s movements.
According to the investigation, on the day of the incident, the driver and the woman allegedly had a video call after Abdullah Tahir arrived at his clinic. Investigators claim the call was used to confirm the victim’s presence at the clinic and that no security guards were accompanying him. By that time, the alleged shooters had reportedly reached Gurumangat Road.
Investigative sources further claimed that the suspects also used a drone camera to conduct surveillance of the victim before the attack.
Police said that during questioning by the Crime Control Department (CCD), the driver acknowledged that he had allegedly been honey-trapped. Authorities added that the investigation is ongoing, while the main alleged shooter, Arslan, has not yet been arrested.
