Karachi (HRNW): A prestigious launch ceremony of the book “Security Training Handbook (Volume-I)” authored by DIG Security & Emergency Services Division Dr. Maqsood Ahmed was held at the Special Security Unit (SSU) Headquarters.
The ceremony was attended by Inspector General of Sindh Police Javed Alam Odho as the chief guest, along with Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan, former Inspectors General of Police, senior officers of the Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Navy, consuls general of various countries, education experts, professors, senior police officials and distinguished personalities from different fields.
Speakers described the handbook as a major milestone for modern policing and security training, stating that it would serve as a valuable reference document for police training institutions and security academies across Pakistan.
Addressing the ceremony, IG Sindh Javed Alam Odho said that modern policing is a vital requirement of the present era and that the book represents an important step towards enhancing the professional capabilities of Sindh Police.
He appreciated the efforts of DIG Dr. Maqsood Ahmed and the entire team involved in preparing the handbook. He emphasized the importance of technology-driven policing, smart surveillance systems, internationally recognized training institutions and highly skilled instructors to address contemporary security challenges.
Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan appreciated the introduction of an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based teaching system for the police force, saying that the integration of AI in professional training would improve knowledge transfer, operational efficiency and overall capabilities of law enforcement agencies.
DIG Dr. Maqsood Ahmed said that the publication of the handbook was one of the most significant achievements of his professional career. He explained that his academic research during his PhD and practical policing experience motivated him to compile the material into a comprehensive training resource for future generations of law enforcement officers.
He said that Volume-I focuses on evolving security challenges, including terrorism, cyber threats, emergency situations and modern security requirements, as traditional policing methods are no longer sufficient to deal with increasingly complex threats.

The book incorporates field experiences, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), local case studies and internationally recognized security principles adapted to Pakistan’s operational environment.
During the ceremony, SSU Commandant Aamir Khan Niazi gave a detailed introduction and demonstration of the SSU E-Learning Academy. He explained that the AI-based digital platform linked with the handbook provides police officers and personnel with training material, operational guidance and professional assistance.
The AI-based male and female digital instructors of the academy were also introduced, reflecting the use of modern technology in police training.
The handbook will be provided to police training institutions and specialized security academies across Pakistan for institutional review, professional guidance and regular educational use to promote standardization and modernization of security training.
