Karachi (HRNW): The lawyer representing the father of young businessman Mir Raza has sent an urgent letter to the Karachi Police Surgeon and the Secretary Health, objecting to the reported change in the medical board constituted for the exhumation and post-mortem examination of the deceased.
According to the letter, the original medical board should conduct the exhumation and post-mortem in accordance with the court’s directions. Lawyer Jibran Nasir stated that the court had directed the Karachi Police Surgeon and Secretary Health to constitute the medical board, following which the Karachi Police Surgeon formed an eight-member board.
The letter states that the original board included forensic and pathology experts, and that the deceased’s family had expressed complete confidence in the original medical board.
According to the lawyer, on the night of August 6, the Director General Health, Hyderabad, constituted a new medical board and replaced all members of the previous board.
The letter alleges that the move was contrary to the court’s directions and maintains that the DG Health does not have the authority to interfere with the powers of the Karachi Police Surgeon.
The deceased’s family has reportedly refused to consent to the exhumation being conducted by the newly constituted board, with the lawyer arguing that proceeding with the exhumation through the new board would amount to non-compliance with the court’s order.
Jibran Nasir said the change in the medical board has further strengthened the family’s concerns regarding the investigation.
