Karachi (HRNW): A Senior Civil Judge (South) has issued a decision on a compensation claim filed by the family of Noor Hameed Jan, who died in a road accident 23 years ago.
The court has ordered the concerned parties to pay Rs. 106.61 million in compensation, according to lawyer Farrukh Usman. The amount reportedly includes markup accumulated over the past 23 years.
According to the lawyer, the accident occurred in 2003 near Nursery on Shahrah-e-Faisal, Karachi. A case was subsequently registered at Ferozabad Police Station.
The compensation petition was filed under the Fatal Accidents Act, 1855, with the federal government and other relevant institutions named as respondents.
The petition was filed by Bacha Zareen, the widow of the deceased.
