Pakistan Approves Nationwide Unified Online Police Character Certificate System

Islamabad (HRNW): The Federal Government has approved a nationwide unified online Police Character/Police Clearance Certificate system, introducing a standardized and digital process aimed at making the issuance of police clearance certificates faster, more transparent, and accessible across Pakistan.

The approval was granted during a meeting chaired by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi at the National Police Bureau.

According to the Interior Minister, the National Police Bureau (NPB) will now issue Police Clearance Certificates through a centralized system, replacing the previous complex and time-consuming procedure with a streamlined, fully online process.

Mohsin Naqvi stated that citizens will be able to apply for and obtain Police Clearance Certificates from the comfort of their homes through the National Police Bureau’s online portal, eliminating unnecessary visits to government offices and significantly reducing processing time.

Human Rights Perspective

Accessible, transparent, and efficient public services are an important element of good governance and the protection of citizens’ rights. A unified digital Police Clearance Certificate system can enhance equal access to government services, reduce bureaucratic hurdles, improve administrative transparency, and minimize opportunities for corruption. Such reforms can also facilitate employment, education, immigration, and other legal processes that require police clearance documentation.
