Tel Aviv (HRNW)- The Israeli military has claimed that Ali Reza Tangsiri, head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Navy, was killed in an airstrike targeting senior Iranian naval officials responsible for blocking the Strait of Hormuz.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that Tangsiri was directly involved in actions such as laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz and obstructing commercial shipping. The operation reportedly took place late at night, though the exact number and names of other senior officers killed were not disclosed.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that Tangsiri played a key role in closing the Strait of Hormuz and claimed that his “hands were stained with the blood of many people.” Netanyahu further warned that Israel would continue targeting Iranian sites in cooperation with the United States, despite ongoing backchannel ceasefire efforts.
Iran has not officially confirmed or denied the Israeli claim. Since February 28, joint operations by Israel and the US have reportedly targeted several high-ranking Iranian officials, including Ayatollah Khamenei, the head of the Revolutionary Guard, the army chief, the defense minister, and the security adviser.
