MIRPURKHAS (HRNW): In a major crackdown on systemic corruption within the education sector, the Sindh Government has initiated an investigation into a massive fake certificate scandal at the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Mirpurkhas. The move comes following reports of a “pay-for-degree” racket where counterfeit matriculation certificates and examination results were allegedly being sold to candidates.
On the directives of Provincial Minister Ismail Rahu, the Department of Universities and Boards has established a high-level inquiry committee to probe the irregularities. Several high-ranking officials of the Mirpurkhas Board have been suspended as the committee intensifies its investigation into the fraudulent issuance of certificates and broader examination malpractice.
While the provincial government has promised a “stern crackdown,” critics and local circles have expressed skepticism, labeling the official response as a “traditional eye-wash” to cover up deep-rooted administrative failures. The inquiry committee has been tasked with identifying all beneficiaries of the fake degrees and the facilitators within the board’s ranks to bring them to justice.
