MPA Sajjad Ali Soomro Condemns Abandonment of Elderly Parents as “Extreme Social Insensitivity”

KARACHI (HRNW): Member of the Sindh Assembly Sajjad Ali Soomro has highlighted the growing trend of neglecting elderly parents, labeling the act of leaving them solely in the care of domestic staff as the pinnacle of insensitivity. In a poignant statement, the lawmaker reminded the public that parents who sacrificed their entire lives to nurture and provide for their children are now increasingly falling victim to loneliness and administrative neglect.

MPA Soomro emphasized that caring for one’s parents in their old age is not merely a social responsibility but a profound religious and moral obligation. He warned that the current shift toward emotional detachment from one’s elders is a troubling sign of societal decline. He urged the youth and the broader community to recognize that honoring and serving parents is the foundation of a healthy society, asserting that any negligence in this regard reflects a deep-seated ethical crisis.
