Islamabad (HRNW) – Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has suggested the creation of additional administrative units or new provinces, stating that the existing system has become outdated and requires fundamental reforms to improve governance and address public issues.
Addressing Pakistan’s first Economic Summit Conference, the Interior Minister said that traders from different regions, including Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, highlighted their challenges while also pointing out opportunities available in Pakistan.
Mohsin Naqvi said that those responsible for bringing Pakistan to its current situation are present among the stakeholders. He stated that if a system has failed to deliver desired results for 70 or 80 years, there must be reasons that require serious examination.
He said that based on his experience of being more active in politics over the past few years, continuing with the same approach would mean that the country may still be discussing the same problems years later, because the current system requires major improvements.
The Interior Minister said that democracy is supported by everyone and that he himself remains a strong supporter of democracy. However, he pointed out that there are different models of democratic governance around the world and that reforms should be considered according to a country’s needs.
He emphasized that improving the administrative structure, including consideration of new provinces or administrative units, could help address public problems more effectively and bring governance closer to citizens.
