Main Water Line Bursts After Power Breakdown at Dhabeji, Supply Disrupted Across Karachi

Karachi (HRNW)- The water crisis has escalated once again, where a 72-inch diameter main water line burst due to a power breakdown at Dhabeji pumping station, resulting in water supply being suspended in various areas of the city.

According to officials, Line No. 5 of Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation was once again affected due to power outage. As a result of the breakdown, four major pumps installed at Dhabeji pumping station were shut down, cutting off water supply to several areas.

Sources say that this is the fourth time in the last two weeks that the main line has been damaged, while the use of substandard materials in the repair work is being cited as the main reason for these incidents.

According to the spokesperson of the water corporation, the repair work of the pipeline is underway and it will be completed within 24 hours and water supply will be restored.

On the other hand, citizens have complained that sensitive water facilities are facing frequent water shortages due to lack of stable power supply, which is severely affecting daily life. Citizens have demanded that the relevant authorities ensure stable and safe power supply to water facilities.
