Rome (HRNW)- Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has expressed support for the US military action in Venezuela, describing it as defensive in nature and potentially justified under the current circumstances.
In a statement on the situation in Venezuela, Meloni said that Italy does not recognize the self-proclaimed electoral victory of the Venezuelan president and supports a democratic transfer of power in the country.
She clarified that while defensive intervention may be justified in response to hybrid threats against security, military intervention is not a permanent solution to ending dictatorship. The Italian Prime Minister added that ensuring the safety of Italian citizens living in Venezuela remains Italy’s top priority.
