Lahore (HRNW)- Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Ejaz Chaudhry, Yasmin Rashid, and Omar Sarfraz Cheema have criticized the government over inflation, healthcare, education, agriculture, and the law-and-order situation in a letter conveyed to the media through their lawyer.
The leaders said rising petrol prices had created serious difficulties for the public and claimed that 42 percent of the population lives below the poverty line, making it increasingly difficult for many people to afford basic necessities.
They also highlighted child malnutrition, shortages of medical facilities and medicines, and problems within the primary healthcare system. The letter criticized the government over its spending priorities and questioned the reported purchase of a luxury aircraft for the Punjab chief minister.
On education and agriculture, the PTI leaders claimed that around 10 million children are out of school and that clean drinking water remains inaccessible to many citizens. They also criticized the exclusion of agriculture from fuel subsidies and raised concerns over the condition of the agricultural sector and sugar exports.
Regarding law and order, the leaders described the situation as serious and referred to data on child sexual abuse. They cited a report showing that 80 percent of reported child sexual abuse cases in the first half of 2026 occurred in Punjab.
The leaders further criticized what they described as the government’s lavish spending and said there was a growing gap between the administration and the public. They also questioned the treatment of the elected chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, warning that such actions could deepen a sense of alienation in the province.
Concluding their letter, the PTI leaders invoked the expression “as you sow, so shall you reap” and called for strength to overcome the country’s current challenges. The letter reflects the latest criticism from incarcerated PTI leaders, who have previously issued joint statements on political and economic issues from prison.
