Karachi (HRNW) – The Sindh Bar Council announced a strike across courts in the province to protest the police action against participants of the Baberlo bypass sit-in and the continued non-recovery of Priya Kumari and other missing children.
The Sindh Bar Council had announced a boycott of court proceedings across Sindh; however, reports indicate that proceedings at the Sindh High Court and subordinate courts continued as usual, with judges hearing cases and lawyers appearing before courts.
Sindh Bar Council Vice Chairman Ishtiaq Memon stated that the failure to recover missing children despite the passage of several years reflects a failure of the relevant institutions.
He expressed serious concerns over the arrests of participants of the Baberlo bypass protest and said that action against people demanding justice for missing children was a matter of concern.
Ishtiaq Memon urged the federal and provincial governments to ensure the immediate recovery of Priya Kumari and other missing children and provide justice to the affected families.
