Karachi (HRNW) – The Anti-Terrorism Court held a hearing in the kidnapping-for-ransom case registered against actor Muneeb Butt, during which his lawyer submitted an application seeking withdrawal of his bail request.
According to the police challan submitted before the court, actor Muneeb Butt has been declared innocent in the case. Police stated that during the investigation, no direct evidence was found linking him to the alleged crime.
The case involves allegations that the accused persons kidnapped the complainant and allegedly looted cryptocurrency worth Rs. 2.494 million (24.94 lakh) along with other valuables.
Muneeb Butt had been accused of providing accommodation to the alleged suspects in Murree, however, the police investigation report cleared him of the allegations.
A police official identified as Ghalib has been declared a proclaimed offender in the case, while other accused named in the FIR include Shahid Sattar, Muhammad Saleem, Aleem, and Wazir Muhammad.
According to police, the incident occurred on 23 April, when the accused allegedly abducted Muhammad Mutaal from Shahrah-e-Faisal and later left him in Korangi Industrial Area after allegedly taking cryptocurrency and other belongings.
Further proceedings in the case are continuing before the court.
