IAEA Chief Says Most of Iran’s Enriched Uranium Likely Stored at Isfahan Facility

Vienna (HRNW) – The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, has stated that a significant portion of Iran’s enriched uranium is likely still stored at the Isfahan nuclear facility. In his statement, Grossi said that while Isfahan may hold a large stockpile, other key sites including Natanz and Fordow also require continued inspection and monitoring.

He further noted that Iran is estimated to possess around 440 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60 percent, with approximately 200 kilograms believed to be stored in underground tunnels at Isfahan. Grossi added that discussions have taken place with Russia and other countries regarding the potential transfer of Iran’s enriched uranium abroad, but emphasized that such a process would be highly complex and sensitive.

Experts say this development has renewed international focus on Iran’s nuclear program and the global inspection framework, increasing the importance of diplomatic engagement and negotiations to address ongoing concerns.
