Stockholm, Sweden (HRNW) – The Civil Rights Defenders’ Emergency Fund released its 2025-2026 impact report on April 7, revealing that it supported 2,302 human rights defenders facing immediate danger—a 57% increase from the previous year. Despite shrinking resources, the fund provided life-saving assistance across 29 countries. The report underscores a “critical gap” in global funding for rapid-response mechanisms as political repression and digital surveillance of activists reach record highs globally.
