According to RA Shahzad, PML-N Member of National Assembly Amna Batool was earlier part of the party’s social media team and later became an MNA on a reserved seat. He claims that later, Information Minister Atta Tarar appointed Amna Batool’s husband Syed Umair Ali—who was earlier associated with Punjab Baitul Mal—as the Director of Human Resources in Pakistan Television (PTV) on a special scale, with a salary of Rs. 650,000.

RA Shahzad says that these appointments were made when there was no permanent board of PTV, while the court has earlier declared that permanent appointments made in the absence of a board are considered illegal.

In his statement, he cited an IMF report and said that Pakistan loses $4.5 billion annually due to corruption in institutions. According to him, PTV was earning a profit of Rs870 million in 2022-2023, but has been reported to be in losses in recent days, which he attributes to alleged nepotism and administrative irregularities.

RA Shahzad says that he is being targeted on social media for questioning various government measures and bringing documentary evidence to light.

There has been no official response from the government or the relevant ministry to these allegations yet.
