WHO Reports Continuing Ebola Outbreak in Democratic Republic of the Congo

The World Health Organization (WHO) says the Bundibugyo virus disease outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo continues to evolve, with sustained transmission requiring ongoing public-health action.

WHO’s latest Disease Outbreak News update says the outbreak remains under close monitoring as health authorities and partners work to identify cases, trace contacts and strengthen infection prevention and control.

The outbreak has raised renewed concerns about the ability of health systems in affected areas to respond quickly while maintaining essential services for communities.

WHO continues to coordinate with national authorities and international partners as the response develops.
