Islamabad (HRNW)- The government has issued the procedure for obtaining subsidized petrol under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s special relief scheme, which provides a subsidy of Rs100 per litre to eligible users.
Citizens seeking the subsidy are required to send an SMS to 9771 containing “REG,” their CNIC number, vehicle registration number, province name and registration date. Upon successful mobile registration, applicants will receive a confirmation message.
Before visiting a petrol pump, registered users must send “tok” to 9771 to obtain a token number. The token can then be presented at the petrol pump to purchase fuel at the subsidized rate.
Once applicants receive a message specifying the eligible fuel quantity and validity period, they can present the information at the petrol pump to avail themselves of the subsidy.
The special relief scheme covers motorcycles, rickshaws, Chingchis and vehicles with engine capacities of up to 800cc. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the initiative was launched to reduce the financial burden caused by rising petrol prices on users of smaller vehicles.
