Islamabad (HRNW)- Pakistan is observing Air Force Day on September 7 across the country to commemorate the historic aerial battles of the 1965 Indo-Pakistan War and pay tribute to the bravery, professionalism and sacrifices of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) personnel.
The day is being observed as Martyrs’ Day at PAF bases nationwide, with special prayers and Quran recitation for the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty since the establishment of Pakistan. At the main ceremony held at Air Headquarters Islamabad, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu laid a wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial and offered Fateha.
In his message, President Asif Ali Zardari praised the PAF’s professional capabilities and its role in defending Pakistan’s sovereignty and airspace. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also paid tribute to the sacrifices of PAF martyrs, describing the force as a symbol of courage, professionalism and national pride.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif paid tribute to PAF martyrs and veterans, recalling the heroic legacy of air force personnel including Rashid Minhas Shaheed. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi highlighted the historic achievements of PAF heroes, including Squadron Leader MM Alam, and said the nation remains proud of the force’s professionalism and capabilities.
Air Force Day serves as a reminder of the courage and sacrifices of Pakistan’s air defenders and their role in safeguarding the country’s airspace.
