London (HRNW)- Britain’s King Charles III has made clear that Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, will remain inactive members of the royal family and will not undertake official royal duties despite their return to the United Kingdom.
According to reports, a letter sent by Buckingham Palace to senior officials stated that Harry and Meghan will not use their royal titles for official duties under arrangements agreed after they stepped back from royal responsibilities in 2020.
The letter also said that if the couple takes part in charitable activities, they will do so in a private capacity.
Decisions concerning security arrangements for Harry and Meghan will remain with the relevant government and police authorities. Prince Harry has been involved in a long-running legal dispute over police protection in the UK.
The palace’s move is reportedly aimed at removing any ambiguity surrounding the couple’s current status within the royal family.
