Washington (HRNW)- US President Donald Trump has claimed that oil and gasoline prices will fall sharply once the United States wins the war with Iran.
In a statement on Truth Social, Trump said oil prices would decline “very quickly” after the war, while gasoline prices for American consumers could fall to around $3 per gallon and eventually drop below $2 per gallon.
Trump also said Iran would not be able to obtain nuclear weapons in the future. His remarks come as global oil markets remain under pressure amid the Iran war and heightened tensions around the Strait of Hormuz.
Global oil prices have risen during the recent tensions, with concerns over supplies continuing to affect the market. According to the Financial Times, Brent crude has recently approached $98 per barrel.
Trump said conditions would return to normal quickly after the war, although his forecast of gasoline prices falling below $2 per gallon remains a political claim. The actual impact will depend on global oil supplies, the duration of the conflict and broader market conditions.
