Washington (HRNW)- An Iranian media report has claimed that seven US sailors were killed and several others injured during an alleged violent altercation aboard the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln.
According to Tasnim News, citing an unidentified military source, the incident allegedly occurred amid growing unrest among the ship’s crew over what was described as a prolonged deployment. The report also claimed that families of some crew members had raised concerns about the length of the deployment.
According to the report, an adviser to the commander of US Central Command, Brad Cooper, was sent to the aircraft carrier to assess the situation and speak with personnel.
Tasnim claimed that tensions escalated during the meeting, with some crew members allegedly protesting against the adviser and throwing water bottles while he was addressing the gathering.
The report further claimed that an argument later broke out among crew members and that knives and other sharp objects were used during the confrontation, allegedly resulting in seven deaths and several injuries.
According to the Iranian report, security measures aboard the vessel were subsequently tightened as authorities attempted to restore order. However, the report did not provide the identities of those allegedly killed or injured.
