Riyadh (HRNW)- Heavy rainfall across several parts of Saudi Arabia has brought cooler and more pleasant weather, with Makkah and Riyadh among the areas affected. Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has issued weather alerts for rain and thunderstorms in parts of the Kingdom, including the Makkah region.
At Masjid al-Haram in Makkah, rain fell over the Grand Mosque as Umrah pilgrims continued performing Tawaf around the Kaaba. Despite the downpour, worshippers continued their religious rituals.
The rainfall also caused water to accumulate on roads and streets in parts of Makkah, while authorities continued monitoring weather conditions and traffic movement.
In Riyadh, heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning reduced the intensity of the recent heat and brought cooler conditions for residents. Intermittent rainfall was also reported in other parts of the Kingdom.
The NCM has warned that periods of rain and thunderstorms may be accompanied by strong winds, reduced visibility, hail, and flash-flood risks in affected areas.
Saudi authorities have advised citizens and residents to exercise caution during periods of heavy rainfall, avoid low-lying and flood-prone areas, and follow official safety instructions.
The latest weather conditions have provided relief from high temperatures in affected areas while also requiring continued attention to possible flooding and hazardous road conditions.
