Islamabad (HRNW)- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has warned that if a meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan is not arranged on Thursday, protests could spread across Pakistan, with the country potentially witnessing demonstrations at 10 pm.
Speaking at a press conference at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House Islamabad alongside PTI leader Salman Akram Raja and other party leaders, Sohail Afridi said that all parliamentarians would go to Adiala Jail on Thursday, while parliamentarians would stage a sit-in outside the Supreme Court the following day.
He said Imran Khan’s family had given assurances that the meeting would not involve political discussions. According to Afridi, if the authorities accept the guarantee, arrangements should be made for the meeting.
The KP chief minister said the party’s primary demand was that Imran Khan be provided with the best possible medical treatment. He also expressed concern about the health of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, saying that concerns surrounding the PTI founder’s health must be addressed.
Afridi alleged that Imran Khan had been unjustly detained and claimed that the responsibility for his health while in Adiala Jail rested with the government, judiciary and prison administration.
He further said that Pakistan’s youth were experiencing anger and frustration over unemployment and what he described as political and social injustice. He claimed that young people across the country were prepared to take to the streets.
Sohail Afridi warned that if the situation continued, a large-scale nationwide protest could take place on September 27, saying that the scale of public participation could become difficult for the authorities to control.
