Lahore (HRNW) – The Anti-Corruption Circle Lahore of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched action against the passport agent mafia, arresting two passport office employees and 10 agents.
According to the FIA Lahore spokesperson, raids were conducted outside passport offices in Garden Town, Shahdara, and Harbanspura, where the suspects were allegedly collecting illegal additional charges from citizens in the name of passport processing.
FIA officials stated that the arrested individuals were allegedly deceiving citizens by promising urgent passport issuance and charging excessive amounts of money.
The arrested suspects belong to different areas of Lahore. According to the spokesperson, passport tokens, bank challans, receipts, and other important evidence were recovered from their possession.
The FIA has taken all arrested individuals into custody and initiated further investigation. Authorities have also indicated that action against other individuals involved in such illegal activities will continue.
