Karachi (HRNW)- Parents of HIV-infected children staged a protest outside Walika Hospital, demanding improved healthcare facilities and changes in the hospital administration.
During the protest, children, women, and elderly participants held placards and raised slogans against the hospital administration.
The protesting parents demanded the replacement of focal person Saadat Memon, who was appointed to represent them. They alleged that he had been arrested multiple times on corruption charges and called for his immediate replacement, along with the current Medical Superintendent (MS).
The parents also complained that despite assurances made by Sindh Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani, they had not received the promised healthcare services. They said they were facing shortages of medicines and other essential medical facilities.
The protesters warned that if their demands are not met, they will expand their demonstration outside the Karachi Press Club.
During the protest, some participants threatened to resort to an extreme act of self-harm involving their children if their demands remained unaddressed, saying they would hold the Sindh government responsible for any such incident.
