Tehran (HRNW)- Iran has warned in response to US President Donald Trump’s latest threat that if Washington does not back down, American-linked infrastructure across the Middle East will also not remain safe.
According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency, an unnamed military source said that Iran is firmly determined to exercise its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz and will never allow the strategic waterway to be used against the country.
The military official added that if the United States attacks Iranian bridges or power plants, Iran will respond by targeting key US-linked civilian infrastructure in Arab countries, including bridges, power plants, and other vital installations.
The statement further said that the events of the past ten days have demonstrated Iran’s capability to strike wherever it deems necessary.
The Iranian military official warned that if President Trump takes such a dangerous step, it would once again end in failure and embarrassment for the United States.
He emphasized that Iran will continue to exercise its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz and will not abandon its determination to maintain control over the strategically important waterway under any circumstances.
The remarks came after President Donald Trump stated on his social media platform Truth Social that if Iran’s Revolutionary Guards attack a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz with missiles, rockets, drones, or any other weapon, the United States would destroy an Iranian bridge or power plant in response to each such attack, including facilities near Tehran.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical maritime routes for global oil and gas shipments. According to the claims in the report, Iran has closed the strategic waterway, contributing to rising oil prices in international markets.
