Karachi (HRNW) – The Government of Sindh has decided to accelerate practical measures aimed at permanently resolving the problems faced by land allottees, strengthening action against land grabbers, and providing prompt relief to affected citizens.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the Cabinet Land Committee chaired by Sindh Local Government Minister and Committee Chairman Nasir Hussain Shah. The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani, the Additional Chief Secretary for Local Government, and senior officials from the Karachi Development Authority (KDA), Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA), Sukkur Development Authority (SDA), and other relevant government departments.
The committee reviewed complaints from allottees, pending cases, illegal occupations, legal complications, and other challenges related to land development agencies operating under the Sindh Government. Various proposals and recommendations were discussed to ensure both immediate and long-term solutions.
Officials from the relevant authorities also briefed the committee on their performance, ongoing anti-encroachment operations, and efforts to address the grievances of affected citizens.
Addressing the meeting, Nasir Hussain Shah stated that the Sindh Government is committed to protecting the legitimate rights of citizens and that no injustice, discrimination, or unfair treatment against any allottee or affected individual would be tolerated.
He directed all concerned departments to prepare a comprehensive and verified list of affected allottees as soon as possible so that each case could be reviewed on merit and rightful owners could receive appropriate relief.
The minister said the Cabinet’s Sub-Committee on Land was established in line with the public welfare vision of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the directives of the Chief Minister of Sindh to resolve long-standing issues related to land, plots, and allotments in a transparent manner.
According to the minister, valuable public land and numerous plots belonging to the Malir Development Authority (MDA), Lyari Development Authority (LDA), and Karachi Development Authority (KDA) have already been recovered from illegal occupants, while operations against land grabbers are continuing in other areas and will proceed until completion.
He emphasized that the land mafia would receive no concessions and that illegal occupation of public land would not be tolerated. He added that police, district administration, and other law enforcement agencies would fully cooperate in restoring possession of plots to their rightful owners.
Nasir Hussain Shah also urged affected citizens to approach the relevant government departments before seeking judicial remedies, stating that the government is making every effort to address their complaints and provide timely relief. He instructed officials that unnecessary delays, negligence, or inaction in resolving public grievances would not be tolerated and that all cases should be handled on a priority basis.
From a human rights perspective, the protection of property rights, access to effective administrative remedies, transparent governance, and timely relief for affected citizens are essential components of the rule of law. Fair resolution of land disputes and action against illegal land occupation contribute to public confidence in state institutions and the protection of citizens’ rights.
