Washington (HRNW)- US President Donald Trump has dismissed Iran’s announcement that it will not implement the US-Iran memorandum of understanding on nuclear-related commitments, saying he is unconcerned by Tehran’s decision.
In a brief telephone interview with the American television network NewsNation, President Trump was asked about Iran’s latest announcement, to which he responded, “I don’t care about it at all.”
Trump reaffirmed that the primary objective of US policy is to ensure that Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons under any circumstances.
He said Washington remains committed to limiting Iran’s nuclear program and will not change its position on the issue.
It is worth noting that the United States and Iran reached a memorandum of understanding in mid-June aimed at easing tensions and ending the ongoing conflict between the two countries.
However, in recent weeks, disputes over the Strait of Hormuz, maritime security, and regional developments have led to renewed tensions, affecting the implementation of the agreement.
According to political observers, the latest statements from both sides indicate that diplomatic differences between Washington and Tehran are widening once again, while continued military tensions in the region could further complicate prospects for future negotiations.
Iran has also announced that it will suspend implementation of the memorandum of understanding, adding to uncertainty over any future diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
