Sanaa (HRNW)- Yemen’s internationally recognized government has prevented an Iranian aircraft from completing its flight to Sanaa International Airport, citing a failure to obtain the required official authorization.
According to media reports, Yemen’s Minister of Transport, Mohsen al-Ameri, said in an interview with the state-run All Yemen TV that no aircraft would be permitted to land without prior approval through the government’s authorized channels and procedures.
He said the decision was taken because the flight had not followed the officially approved government process for obtaining landing permission.
There was no immediate response from the Houthi movement or Iranian officials regarding the reported incident.
The development comes amid heightened tensions in Yemen after the government said on Monday that its forces carried out operations on the runway at Sanaa Airport to prevent another Iranian aircraft from landing.
In response, the Houthis accused Saudi Arabia of being behind the operation and subsequently launched missile attacks toward Saudi territory.
