Islamabad (HRNW)- On the occasion of Ashura Day, 10 Muharram 1448 AH, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, in their separate messages, paid tribute to the great sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala, urging the nation to make the principles of truth, justice, patience, tolerance, unity and national solidarity a part of their lives.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said in his message that Ashura is a great and thought-provoking day in Islamic history, teaching the values of faith, patience, perseverance, selflessness and social reform. He said the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his devoted companions proved that making any sacrifice for the protection of truth, justice and human dignity is far better than bowing before oppression and falsehood. The Prime Minister added that the tragedy of Karbala inspires people to promote justice, fairness, responsibility, mutual respect and tolerance. He also appealed to religious scholars, mashaikhs, zakirs, the media and the youth to spread the true message of Ashura, promote interfaith harmony and avoid hatred and incitement.
President Asif Ali Zardari said in his message that Ashura teaches patience, perseverance and truthfulness. He described the tragedy of Karbala as not merely a historical event but a timeless message and a living lesson for all humanity, urging the nation to strengthen peace, tolerance and brotherhood.
Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said that Ashura is an eternal symbol of truth, honesty, patience, sacrifice and steadfastness against oppression. He said Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions safeguarded Islam, human dignity and the principles of justice through their unmatched sacrifices. He stressed that promoting tolerance, peace, justice, brotherhood and national unity is essential in the current circumstances and that the sacrifices of Karbala remain a guiding light for all humanity.
