Lahore (HRNW)- Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development Bilal Yasin expressed deep concern over the increasing incidents of children falling into open manholes and issued a stern warning to the concerned officers.
He made it clear that further negligence or lapses in the monitoring system will not be tolerated and strict action will be taken against responsible officials.
Addressing a performance review meeting held via video link under the Punjab Development Plan (PDP), Bilal Yasin directed the WASA Managing Directors of all districts to immediately identify damaged and uncovered manholes and submit a comprehensive report along with safety recommendations.
He said that with the arrival of the monsoon season, the ongoing de-silting campaign must continue without interruption and all districts should complete advance preparations to deal with any emergency situation.
The Housing Minister added that climate change could increase both the intensity and volume of rainfall in the coming months. In light of these concerns, additional machinery and resources will soon be provided to various districts to strengthen preparedness and improve public safety measures.
