Citizens Reject Protest Call, Stress Dialogue and Continuation of Business Activities

Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (HRNW) – Residents of Mirpur have expressed reservations regarding the protest and lockdown call given by the banned Joint Public Action Committee, emphasizing the need for dialogue and the continuation of normal economic activities.

According to local residents, any prolonged shutdown could negatively affect businesses and create difficulties for daily wage earners who depend on regular economic activity for their livelihoods.

Several citizens stated that maintaining peace and stability in Azad Kashmir is essential and that disputes should be resolved through negotiations rather than confrontation. They expressed concern that any escalation of tensions could have broader consequences for the region.

Residents also emphasized the importance of preserving the longstanding ties between Pakistan and Azad Kashmir and called for efforts to address differences through peaceful means.

According to reports from the city, markets and business centers remained open in Mirpur despite the protest call, with commercial activities continuing as usual in many areas.

Citizens urged all stakeholders to engage in constructive dialogue and discussions to address public concerns and demands. They maintained that negotiations provide a more effective path toward resolving issues than strikes or lockdowns that may impact ordinary people.

Local residents further noted that maintaining a peaceful environment is vital for economic stability, social harmony and the welfare of the community.
