Tobacco Consumption Poses Severe Threat to Public Health and National Economy, Expresses President Asif Ali Zardari

ISLAMABAD (HRNW) – President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari has expressed profound concern over the rising trend of tobacco consumption and its highly hazardous effects on human health.

In a special message, President Asif Ali Zardari stated that tobacco products are not only causing catastrophic damage to human health but are also posing serious risks and liabilities to the national economy. He lamented that the addiction to smoking claims thousands of precious lives across the country every year. Furthermore, the medical complications arising from tobacco use inflict a heavy financial burden on the national healthcare sector.

The President urged the public, particularly the nation’s youth, to completely avoid smoking and the use of all related tobacco products to secure their future and adopt a healthy lifestyle. He emphasized that effectively curbing tobacco consumption and raising widespread public awareness about its lethal side effects is the need of the hour.

Asif Ali Zardari called upon all relevant institutions and stakeholders to take immediate and effective measures to raise awareness regarding the harmful impacts of tobacco use, ensuring the establishment of a healthy, prosperous, and secure society in Pakistan.
