KMC to Establish Special Heatwave Wards Across Karachi Hospitals

KARACHI (HRNW): In response to the intensifying heat and the potential for a severe heatwave in Karachi, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has decided to establish dedicated heatwave wards in all hospitals under its management.

According to the KMC spokesperson, these specialized wards are being set up following directives from the Mayor of Karachi to ensure citizens receive immediate and improved medical assistance. As temperatures are expected to rise further in the coming days, the Medical Department has been instructed to finalize all necessary arrangements.

The initiatives include:

  • Medical Readiness: Heatwave wards will be equipped with essential medical facilities and a full stock of required medicines to treat affected patients.

  • Public Awareness: Awareness banners and displays outlining preventive measures against the heat will be placed at hospitals and along major thoroughfares.

  • Helpline Access: For information or to lodge complaints regarding the heatwave wards, citizens can contact the KMC complaint cell or designated helpline numbers.
