Pirates Seize Oil Tanker Near Somalia, 11 Pakistani Crew Members Taken Hostage

Karachi (HRNW)- Pirates have attacked and captured an oil tanker near Somalia, after which the ship’s crew was taken hostage. According to shipping sources, the oil tanker “Owner 25” was attacked on April 21, during which 11 Pakistani crew members on board were also among the hostages.

Sources say that the Directorate of Ports of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs has not yet been able to contact the Pakistani crew, while no clear position has emerged from the agency that sent the ship.

On the other hand, the family of the crew told a private TV channel that Indonesia is trying to contact the pirates to release the Indonesian captain of the ship. The family has demanded that the Pakistani government take immediate and effective steps for the safe return of the Pakistani crew. According to authorities, the situation is being monitored and international contacts are ongoing.
