Karachi/Chashma (HRNW)- Due to the melting of glaciers and intense heat in the upper parts of the country, the flow of water in the Indus River is increasing significantly.
A clear increase in the inflow of water has been recorded in the Chashma Barrage. The inflow of water in the Chashma Barrage has increased to 70,000 cusecs, while the outflow of water has been recorded at 66,545 cusecs.
According to the administration, the water level in the Chashma Barrage has reached 648 feet, in view of which 35 spillways of the barrage have been opened as a precautionary measure to keep the water pressure at a safe level.
The Irrigation Department says that the situation is being continuously monitored, while instructions have been issued to the residents of low-lying areas to be cautious. According to experts, if the current heat wave continues, the flow of water in the rivers may increase further in the coming days.
